Kitbag looks to profit from adidas launch
The launch of a new replica cricket kit based on that worn by the England team has spurred one online retailer into action, it has been revealed.
Kitbag is looking to generate extra traffic to its website by hosting a viral game allowing visitors to try their hand at some virtual Test cricket.
As well as selling the new kit, the website also has a selection of other cricket-based merchandise including DVDs and children’s apparel.
Meanwhile, cricket fans could find the game more tempting in light of the promise that match tickets are to be won by those who are most successful in the challenge.
The efforts could prove worthwhile in light of recent research published by industry analyst NPD Group.
Figures from the firm show that 72 per cent of respondents said they regularly played video games in 2007, up from 64 per cent in 2006.
The majority added that they play such games online, suggesting a significant audience to be reached through online games.
