Burger King runs Dark Knight cinema advert

Burger King is set to make its UK cinema debut with a new advert that will feature before the latest instalment in the Batman franchise, the Dark Knight.

Cleverly executed, the advertisement’s theme features ordinary people showing their dark side after they’ve eaten the themed Whopper Burger, reports the Guardian.

However, the marketing campaign, which was created by advertising agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky, will only feature in the Pearl & Dean cinema chain, of which there are 350 across the UK.

The five week commercial will run on TV too however, with the first 30-second advert set for launch this week.

Burger King’s Dark Knight commercial release comes after consumer watchdog Which? criticised junk food brands for targeting children with film character promotions.

Burger King was personally accused of using Indiana Jones and Sponge Bob Squarepants to promote their food, reports the Mirror.

However, the firm underlined its responsible marketing policy.

I do think that fast food firms should take a little more responsibility (although I admit I do like a burger from time to time). As with any area of marketing; people push the limits of what they can get away with before someone finally stands up and tells them to back down a bit.
