Honda goes green online

Honda is to introduce a new unique online advertising campaign this month which will involve a virtual gardening competition.

As part of the launch for the car manufacturer’s new hybrid car the Honda Insight, the public are being challenged to tend real-life tulips from their own PC.

Independent botanists will be caring for 24 young tulip plants in a greenhouse in London and virtual gardeners signing up at Honda’s Good to Grow website will be assigned five of these plants to look after.

Honda’s independent botanist will then decide which are the first five plants to reach full bloom, meaning their virtual horticulturalist will win a £10,000 prize to be used on an eco-holiday and a registered charity of their choice.

Those that take part will be able to check up on their Tamagotchi Tulips via a web cam in the greenhouse.

Honda also recently announced a new television advert as part of the Insight launch.
