Firms latch onto digital marketing benefits
Companies are beginning to realise the financial benefits of digital marketing in the midst of the current economic downturn, according to Siegel+Gale.
This year’s Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Awards is set to feature three additional digital categories in a sign that digital direct marketing is on the rise, reports Brand Republic.
According to Howard Belk of Siegel+Gale, brands are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of online media such as social networking as well as cheaper costs compared to more traditional methods such as mail marketing.
He told utalkmarketing.com that “marketers need to be smart and prudent and identify where to spend their money wisely” during the credit crunch.
“It’s because the cost basis of digital marketing is lower than other platforms and companies are only beginning to figure this out,” he added.
There are currently six digital marketing categories featured at the DMA Awards: online advertising, email campaign websites, mobile marketing, eCRM and new technology.
