Waterstone’s launches competition microsite
A new microsite has been launched by book retailer Waterstone’s to promote its latest competition.
The company is running a short story contest to celebrate the National Year of Reading.
Some of the entries received are also to be published online at the What’s Your Story microsite.
Waterstone’s explains that entry is open to anyone who writes a story which fits the competition template.
This means anything from three words to 300 in length should be acceptable, the company adds.
Prizes range from a place on a writing course for over-18 winners and £500 in vouchers to spend in-store for younger winners.
Some stories are also to appear in shop windows, giving some offline exposure in addition to that provided by the internet.
A book of postcards is to be produced featuring the stories of two adult entrants and one child, with proceeds from the sale to go to English PEN and Dyslexia Action.
