Razorfish acquires Wysiwyg amid European expansion plan
Digital marketing firm Razorfish has purchased Wysiwyg - one of Spain’s largest digital advertising agencies - in a bid to expand further into the European market.
Razorfish, which is an independent subsidiary of Microsoft, acquired the Spanish firm for an undisclosed amount in a move which it hopes will help generate one third of sales outside the US by the end of 2009.
Wysiwyg - an acronym for what you see is what you get - will retain its brand identity, its 56 Madrid-based employees and will be continue to be led by its existing management team.
Darin Brown, president of Razorfish Europe, said: “This deal represents a significant milestone as we build our network in Europe, where we already have operations in France, UK and Germany.
“With every expansion, we strengthen our ability to meet our clients’ growing needs for pan-regional, digital marketing services.”
Razorfish, previously known as Avenue A/Razorfish, is one of the largest buyers of advertising space and has a client portfolio which includes Asda, the International Olympic Committee and Weight Watchers.
