Flirtomatic serves billionth banner ad

Banner advertising on mobile social network Flirtomatic has resulted in over a billion impressions so far, the website has revealed.

The news comes less than a year after the first mobile advertisement was placed on the network’s pages.

Meanwhile, view numbers on the site have surpassed nine figures, with 100 million page impressions in August 2007 rising to 110 million in September.

Such growth has continued into 2008 with a 31 per cent increase in revenue growth quarter-on-quarter to the first three months of the year.

Matt Dicks, head of sales and marketing, comments: “The majority of advertisers are content or gambling services, who are well established off-portal services who fully understand the mobile acquisition model.”

But he adds that a shift is now being seen where mobile advertising is increasingly being tested by major brands.

Flirtomatic’s mobile service is free to use; however, the website warns that standard operator charges may apply to text messages sent to establish a new account.
