Small errors ‘can be behind website failings’
Small but important errors are being made by companies that mean their websites are not engaging visitors as effectively as they could, it has been claimed.
Business manager at Design UK Steve Simmonds said these mistakes can be somthing that is overlooked or a minor error, which could cause problems.
When a company is designing a website in the initial stages they should look to get some idea of what works and what doesn’t, Mr Simmonds suggested.
He asserted that it can often be a surprise to businesses that their websites do not work as well as they thought.
When asked if many businesses would be surprised to learn they are not maximising the usability of their websites, Mr Simmonds commented: “Sometimes [the eye-tracking machine] cements what people have thought about [their website].”
He made his comments at Technology for Marketing & Advertising 2009, which took place at Earls Court 2 in London from February 24th-25th 2009.
