UK looking on video websites more
Online video traffic in the UK has increased by 40.7 per cent in the last 12 months, it has been claimed.
Hitwise Intelligence research shows that during February this year, one in every 35 UK internet visits was to a specialist video website, in comparison to one in every 50 in the same month in 2008.
“Video is now a key component of the online landscape in the UK,” said Robin Goad, research director at Hitwise UK.
YouTube was the most visited video website in February 2009 with 62.9 per cent, based on market share of UK internet visits to a Hitwise custom category of video websites, which may interest companies looking into using the form of media for marketing.
BBC iPlayer was the second most popular video website, followed by Google Video.
A recent comScore study revealed the overall online video viewing audience in the UK increased by ten per cent over the last year.
