Mobile users ‘looking for more personalised experience’

Users of mobiles are increasingly looking for a more personalised experience similar to that with the internet or a PC, it is believed.

Rob Dalgety, commercial director for Mformation Technologies, says supporting increased mobile internet use is one way of meeting diverse customer needs and forging new streams of revenue.

“Subscribers want applications and services that are tailored specifically for their needs. In many ways, end users are looking for a PC internet-like experience on their mobile devices,” Mr Dalgety claims.

He asserts that applications and services that are offered to users need to be updated regularly because tastes and market demands often shift.

Mr Dalgety adds that mobile operators are doing work with internet service providers to create and implement fresh services.

A Tellabs’ survey reveals that the average intended usage increase of mobile internet for users in Europe over the next 24 months is 55 per cent.

The top mobile service in Europe is MMS with 39 per cent, while mobile internet is the second-most used service with 34 per cent.
