Television ‘good for unfamiliar customers’
Search portal Google has recommended television as the ideal medium through which to reach unfamiliar customers.
The comments come in an Inside AdWords blog post as Google announces the US roll-out of its Google TV Ads service.
Advertisers throughout the US can now use their AdWords account to broadcast commercials on television as well as the internet.
However, Google dismisses any suggestion that the two media formats are not intrinsically linked.
“Television is a great way to reach new customers who might not be familiar with your product or service,” the search engine explains.
“Research shows that 37 per cent of online search users were prompted to perform a search as a result of exposure to television advertising.”
Google has also established an online tool to help advertisers create a commercial suitable for broadcast via the service.
The firm asserts that campaigns can be launched within minutes by using the conventional AdWords web-based interface.
