Nokia to launch digital marketing GPS campaign

Nokia is using an innovative digital marketing campaign to educate the public about its new GPS navigation services.

The telecoms company will release a series of short online films to help explain to consumers how to use the new technology, which could be “potentially complex”.

Martin Brooks, managing partner at Work Club, the digital agency responsible for the campaign, set out the purpose of the videos in New Media Age.

He told the magazine: “We set out to create a suite of work that combines all the engagement of top quality filmed entertainment with the interactive content needed to explain a potentially complex service.”

Nokia’s new GPS technology can be used in conjunction with social networking to help users find the location of venues and even friends.

Will Harris, marketing director at Nokia, told Mobile Today that mobile navigation systems are “the most exciting development…since texting”.

The five online films will feature comedy actor Richard Ayoade and will be directed by the IT Crowd.
