SSA useful for SEO strategies

Site search analytics (SSA) could be useful when devising a search engine optimisation (SEO) strategy, an expert has suggested.

According to Lou Rosenfeld, although the ways in which SSA can be incorporated into an SEO strategy are “not so obvious” because of the differences in how people search for a site, many options are available.

Speaking to E-consultancy, he likened SSA to a user research tool that helps website designers make more informed, data-driven design-based decisions.

“Every time someone uses your site’s search engine, he is telling you what he wants from you, in his own words - his query,” Mr Rosenfeld said.

“We analyse query data to find interesting patterns and anomalies; these can help us identify and diagnose problems with our site’s content, search system, navigation, metadata and other aspects of its design.”

According to statistics quoted by Avinash Kaushnik, author of Web Analytics: An Hour a Day, around ten per cent of websites’ traffic use internal site searches.

Yes this post is correct, learning the behavioral patterns of users with the use of analytics can help determine the proper keywords and other things that could be used to make the site more search efficient.
