SEO ’should be remembered in website redesign’

Search engine optimisation (SEO) should be kept in mind at every stage of redesigning a website and there are a number of ways that companies can use it during the process, it is claimed.

Rob Garner, writing for Search Insider, says that in most cases “search engines are still very literal” and content should be positioned to reflect the ways in which people will search.

Keyword research will help in understanding the language that reflects users’ searches, Mr Garner comments.

“Language and keywords impact and guide information architecture and content strategies, among other aspects,” he reveals.

Mr Garner suggests that companies should look through their own log files as they may find that certain areas of their sites are performing well and are worth keeping, such as “Holy Grail terms” that are leading to “a lot of traffic”.

Monica Wright, writing for Search Engine Journal, asserts that people can get on top of SEO through a number of her tips, such as paying attention to meta descriptions and title tags.
