Company’s website ‘good place to find keywords’

A good place to start for companies looking for strong keywords is on its own website, it is claimed.

Yahoo!’s Smart Start Team says that going through a company website to find what words are important to customers and businesses could think like a searcher, according to an excerpt on the Yahoo! Search Marketing Blog.

“Consider bidding on keywords for your most profitable products and services first to spend most effectively within your budget,” the team advises.

“Think about what you want your customers to do,” was another tip from the writers.

People can use the Find Keywords panel to find potential keywords that are relevant to the products that they are selling on the services they wish to market, according to the team.

They added that checking web server logs is a more advanced way of locating keywords as it notes what site visitors are searching for and how they find their way through websites.

Earlier this month, the team claimed that it had optimised around two per cent of all active accounts with its account optimisation programme since June 2008.
