Twitter growing at “phenomenal rate”
Twitter, the social messaging utility, is continuing to grow at a “phenomenal rate”, the site reports.
It suggests that the number of users has increased by 900 per cent over the past 12 months, with a number of people now making use of its SMS facility.
The site has secured more funding in recent days, following a meeting with Todd Chaffee from Institutional Venture Partners and Peter Fenton from Benchmark.
It is hoped the funding and expertise will help the site grow further, Twitter reports, enhanced by more and more people looking to “discover a powerful new way to communicate and find out what’s happening”.
Twitter was established in March 2006 in San Francisco and has since grown into a real-time messaging service.
It now has users from all over the world, who take advantage of the ability to stay in touch with friends, family and breaking world news.
