Increase in women using social networking
More and more women are regularly using social networks, according to a recent study, which may interest advertisers looking to show off their stuff on sites such as Facebook.
The amount of women using such sites on a regular basis has grown by 53 per cent in 12 months, according to Women’s Space 2, the IPC Media study analysing women’s use of the internet.
Amanda Wigginton, IPC Advertising’s director of insight, commented: “This is valuable knowledge for us and our advertisers and we’re committed to tracking the changes in women’s internet behaviour on an annual basis.”
The study also revealed that two-thirds of women said social networking was one of their regular online activities, up from 43 per cent in 2007.
One-third of women who have met someone online now believe they are friends with them, according to the research.
Facebook recently announced that governance of service and policy process has been opened up to users.
