Online Glastonbury comp asks music fans to Spot the Bull

An online competition called Spot the Bull has been launched for the third consecutive year by telecommunications firm Orange.

Web users are invited to guess the whereabouts of a bull called Desmond in a field, with each day’s winners earning pairs of tickets for this year’s Glastonbury festival.

People are able to enter the competition via the Spot the Bull website or, for the first time this year, they can also submit text entries.

Orange has also this year introduced a Spot the Bull widget, which can be downloaded for use on social networking sites and blogs.

“Spot the Bull is firmly established as a competition to look out for each summer. It returns bigger and better than ever with enhanced player interactivity and improved functionality,” exclaimed Spencer McHugh, brand director at Orange UK.

A media industry insider recently suggested that the internet can be a particularly cost-effective medium for advertising during the downturn.

Tsafrir Peles, co-chief executive officer at DSNR Media Group, said an added bonus may be that people are online for longer as they save money by not going out.
